Crawley 1-4 Peterborough
Having quickly been a goal up Crawley were soon pegged back before eventually being convincingly beaten on Saturday afternoon by Peterborough United and Broadfield. From one-nil up the final scoreline, which could have been more, was a 4-1 defeat.
What a start, from a Gavin Tomlin pass Izale McLeod (2) drove us into a very early, and also unexpected lead.
This lead wasn't maintained for long though as Jermaine Anderson's shot was only parried away by our 'keeper Jamie Ashdown, brought back in after being rested for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win in midweek, for Michael Smith (11) to follow up and make it one-one.
Losing McLeod to injury was a big blow for us, even so we still almost restored our lead but Dean Leacock was denied by Peterborough 'keeper Ben Alnwick.
The visitors themselves went close, on more than one occasion, before taking the lead just before half time when Christian Burgess (40) headed home a corner to make it two-one to the visitors five-minutes before half time.
Ashdown's mistake shortly after the break gave Marcus Maddison (55) the chance to make it three-one, which he gladly took with the game over three-minutes later when Conor Washington (58) riffled in number four.
Some level of atonement for his earlier mistake was made when Ashdown saved from both Joe Newell and Washington but the damage had already been done with Peterborough moving up to second in league 1 with this four-one win.
