Crawley 1-1 Chesterfield
Crawley had to come from a goal down at Broadfield on Saturday against Chesterfield before we earned a 1-1 draw. Both sides, after a melee than involved 21 players, ended with 10-men after we lost Izale McLeod and Chesterfield Daniel Jones to straight red cards.
The side that started better were Chesterfield and they almost went ahead through Jay O'Shea, but his effort was cleared off the line by Dean Leacock with Lanre Oyebanjo then preventing Tendayi Darikwa from scoring after.
The bar denied Jimmy Smith as we came into the game with McLeod putting a finish just wide after a run from Ryan Dickson, who would also be denied by the frame of the goal with a head.
Hesitation from Gavin Tomlin, with only Chesterfield 'keeper Tommy Lee to beat from just five-yards showed we he had failed to score in his 17-games to that point with the half ending goalless.
As the hour arrived Gary Roberts (59) fired Chesterfield into the lead, allowed to run unchallenged to he advantage of this to rifle but we weren't behind for long with Tomlin (70) soon drawing us level. Lewis Young, who had been transfer-listed recently, came off the bench to send Tomlin through and he kept his cool when one-on-one with Lee for his first goal for us.
Before the end the double red card came with the sides settling for a point apiece in the end.
