League 1 - Crawley 1-2 Port Vale
Crawley's run of just one win in 10 league 1 games, which might have seen a string of draws earning us an unbeaten run, was extended further on Saturday afternoon after defeat at home to Port Vale.
A late goal was nothing more than a consolation with Port Vale seeing us off two-one at Broadfield.
Port Vale almost went ahead early one when a Leacock mistake was capitalised upon by N'Guessan but fortunately for our defender Crystal Palace loanee 'keeper Lewis Price produced a good save to keep the scores level. He also saved from Dodds
Price again saved us to keep out Brown's 25-yard strike but he couldn't do anything to keep out another effort from the veteran midfielder after N'Guessan's run ended with Brown (30) firing into the top corner.
Dodds (42) followed up, after Price had saved his first effort, to make it two just before the break.
A chance to get back into the game came on the hour when Elliott was fouled by O'Connor for us to have a penalty but against a former side Tomlin was denied by 'keeper Neal to keep it at two-nil.
Port Vale went closest to adding to the scoring before sub Henderson (88) converted Smith's cross to give us hope, but with the goal coming two-minutes from time we literally 'paid the penalty' in the two-nil defeat.
